Recently I have felt slightly overwhelmed. Over my uni break I had an amazing internship, it was in a high paced work environment and I loved it. I was working full time and put all my energy into it.
However, this meant that by the time it was time to go back to uni I was exhausted.
Overwhelmed I started to avoid any type of responsibility and became the queen of procrastination. I also wasn't really looking after myself, I had stopped exercising, eating well and socialising as much.
I decided I had to make a change, to pull myself out of my rut. I am all about small changes leading to big ones. These are my top six suggestions for how to change your situation and give yourself a fresh start.
1. Set realistic goals - A few small steps go a long way. Start small and build them up. Everybody is different, but most people will fall into a rut at some point, you just have to decide if you want to get yourself out of it or not.
2. Drink more water - I do this by using a drink bottle so you can see how much you are drinking, and your skin will thank you for it.
3. Exercise - I have started off slow by going for walks with friends. It is social and it gets you moving. I have also been running and watching the amazing Cassie Ho from Blogilates on YouTube .
4. Try and be more social - I found I started to stop talking to my friends as much and I didn't want to go out. Start off slow, maybe go out for a coffee or see a movie.
5. Change something about your environment or appearance - In the past I have pierced my ears, bought a new piece of jewellery or moved my room around. It is a sort of visible thing that represents the changes you are going to make. A fresh start really helps me to put further changes into practise. This time I made my most dramatic change yet..... I cut my hair. I have never had short hair before and usually have it about hip length. But I finally took the plunge and cut half of it off. It was terrifying but it gave me a new found confidence in myself and a great push to change more things in my life.
6. Above all just be kind to yourself - This is something I practise everyday. It simply means don't judge yourself harshly and realise you can only do what you can do. Negative self talk is really horrible and I find being more 'kind to myself' makes things a lot easier.
I hope you have found these suggestions helpful and I would love to hear from you guys :)

Great advice Claudine. Particularly like the idea of changing something - it will probably subconsciously remind you of your fresh start and new beginnings every time you see the changed thing again. Thanks for sharing!

Realistic goals is soooo important! It can be so demotivating if you don't reach your goal because it was too hard to start with!

Great tips. I mean, I'm like really, really lazy, so exercise isn't going to happen, but the rest have a shot.

Perfect timing! I'm actually feeling a bit like this today - after weeks of flat-out working, I'm feeling tired and rundown, and procrastinating is about all I can do right now! I think I'm going to start by drinking more water and going for a walk a little later this afternoon. Thanks for the great tips!
