Healthy TIps and Tricks

Wednesday 11 March 2015

Being healthy seems to come so easily to some people. You know the ones I am talking about. The people you see running around the block, posting Instagram pictures of their raw salad. Sadly though I am not one of those people. One my New Year's Resolutions was to be 'healthier'. Being healthy to me meant trying to eat less junk food, drink more water and exercise on a regular basis. I find that when I do this I feel so much better about myself and my mind is clearer.

Sadly though at this point in the year I have fallen off the 'healthy' bandwagon. So this is a push for myself and possibly you reading this to get back to it!

Here are a few of my little tips that help me get back into the swing of things and hopefully they can help you too.

Recently I have been loving smoothies. To make it easier for myself I cut up fruit and put it in the freezer for when I need it. I have mango, banana and strawberries in my freezer at the moment ready to go. It also means the fruit lasts longer and your smoothie can be nice and cold.

Another thing I have been trying to do is drink more water. I find the easiest way to do this is by carrying around a water bottle. This way you always have water you can see how much you have drunk. Another benefit of having water with you is that I find I am much less likely to buy sugary drinks when I am out.

In terms of exercise I find starting small is the way to go. Do forms of exercise that you like and that you feel comfortable with, then slowly start to expand on what you are doing. For me this meant staring with small jogs and then building them up. Another thing I love to do is exercise with friends. You can encourage each other and when life is so busy it is nice to be able to catch up with friends and do something productive.

I know that these tips are very basic however, I think sometimes it is good to start with the basics and we all need a little push sometimes. I would love to know how you stay healthy!
