Haul and First Impressions

Monday, 27 October 2014

This past week or two I have purchased a few products that I have been wanting to try for a while now. I have tried all these products for just over a week now and so I wanted to share my thoughts on them with you. And I mean who doesn't love reading about a good little haul, I know I do.

Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner  by OGX
I had never tried this brand of haircare but I have friends who absolutely love OGX products. So I thought with summer around the corner I should get a summer scented shampoo and conditioner, and for me that means coconut. The nourishing range claims to 'leave your hair feeling moisturised, glowing and super soft'. I think overall these products do produce the promised results, but I will have to us it for a bit longer to see just how much I like the shampoo and conditionerOne thing I would say is that the shampoo gives a really deep and full cleanse, getting rid of any dirt or in my case dry shampoo that might be on the scalp.

Hydrating Mask by Elizabeth Arden
Elizabeth Arden is a brand I had always wanted to try. I think every beauty blogger has Elizabeth Arden products and what can I say, I wanted to join the club. I love the packaging of this product. The tube has a screw top, making it is simple and effective. The formula is thick but glides quit easily over the skin. I left this on for 10 minutes and then washed it all off with warm handfuls of water. I think this did moisturise my skin but I didn't notice a huge change.

Apocalips in the shade 502 Stellar by Rimmel
I love the Apocalips range by Rimmel. As lip lacquers go these are amazing value for money. The doe-foot applicator makes for perfect lines and well defined lips. I find this lacquer lasts for ages on me, doesn't dehydrate my lips and best of all if you want to apply more throughout the day you can with no weird patches or issues. The colour Stellar is amazing! It is a bright coral red/watermelon shade. You can apply this thickly and get a real wow affect or just use a little and rub it with your finger for a more subtle look.

Super Stay 24HR Concealer by Maybelline
I love Maybelline concealers. I find that their formulas work really well with my skin type. I wanted to try this one because it claimed to work for 24 hours. I have been using this concealer for just over a week and so far I love it. It hasn't caused any skin irritation and covers blemishes and dark under eye circles really well. It is a creamy rich formula and I find that less is more with this one. I dab the tiniest amount onto each blemish and use the warmth of my ring finger to blend it in. I have the lightest shade and so far I find that this concealer works really well for me.

The Falsies Big Eyes by Maybelline
This mascara comes with a wand for the top lashes and a wand for the bottom lashes and I picked up the waterproof version. I wanted to try this because I love the original Falsies. I was a bit disappointed with this mascara. I don't like the formula of this one as much and I find the packaging a bit odd to use and work with. I do really love the effect this mascara gives the lower lashes. The little wand allows for coating each lower lash really well, with no clumps. Overall though I think I prefer the original Falsies mascara.

  5. I must try that shampoo and conditioner! I mean coconut scented and it hydrates your hair?! That's fab!
Also, I love Maybelline concealers, I have been using one for a while and it's my fave! I can't remember the name now though!
I also wanted to try that version of the falsies but your review's just put me a bit off! Maybe I'll get it for my lower lashes because I always find it hard to coat them properly with standard mascara!

  10. I love OGX but I've never tried their coconut range - I've had the one in the teal bottle, can't remember which one it was, I think something to do with smoothing and straightening?

I've never tried a rimmel mascara before, it's a pity it was a disappointment for you!

Just a little recommendation, the Origins drink up over night mask works really well for me when winter is approaching. I find in the morning my skin is really well hydrated and plump. Maybe see if you can get a sample :)
