Winter Favourites

Friday 5 September 2014

All winter I have been loving these products! This past season I have come across some amazing  beauty and skincare products that I have absolutely fallen in love with. These are my winter favourites.

Creamy Eye Concentrate with Avocado by Kiehl's
At the beginning of winter my skin usually dries out a bit and for the first time ever I found the skin around my eyes did as well. Apart from the fact that this was totally uncomfortable it also made applying eye makeup difficult. I chose this Kiehl's eye cream because of the rave reviews it got, but also because of it's claims. This eye cream is not a complicated one. It claims to gently moisturise the eye area, and this is exactly what it does. It is a simple and highly effective product, great for younger people who don't need anti-wrinkle creams just yet.

Midnight Recovery Concentrate by Kiehl's
This is another Kiehl's cult beauty product and it is totally worth the hype. I put this elixir on and then my night moisturiser and in the morning I have have brighter and to some extent clearer skin. This elixir claims to regenerate, repair, and replenish for smoother, healthier skin. I found that this product did give me the results I wanted and I was happy with the outcome.

Intensive Repair lip balm by Blistex
Growing up little jars of Blistex could be found in every draw and corner of my house. My mum loved it and it was a summer essential as it had SPF in the formula. Recently my lips were dry and just not retaining enough moisture. So I decided to go back to this old family favourite. I wasn't disappointed. I picked up the Intensive Repair Blistex and it has restored my lips back to a really healthy state. It does have what they refer to as 'cooling relief with a tingle' so I wouldn't recommend this formula to people with really cracked lips as it might sting, but there is something for everyone in the Blistex range.

Stay All Day eye liner by Stila
I am a huge fan of liquid eye liner, and this is my new favourite. Application is made very easy because of the marker like tip and it doesn't transfer into the crease of my eye lid like the Loreal one does. This pen is super flexible in terms of what look you can create with it. I can use this liner to create a thin line to define my lashes or go to the other end of the scale and create a really bold winged look. I have been using this pen since March and the packaging is still in tact and it hasn't dried up at all. This eye liner is especially great for newbies as it is definitely one of the easier eye liners on the market to apply.

Dry Shampoo Dark and Deep Brown by Batiste
I love this product for days that washing my hair is just too much effort. When I am busy or pushed for time this is a life saver. It is easy and effective. I don't find I get any buildup of product on the scalp, as I have with other brands. I also use this when I want a little bit more volume.

L'Absolu Rouge lipstick by Lancome
This Lancome lipstick in the shade 132 Caprice was my favourite shade for winter. It was definitely more of a night time lipstick as the colour is very bold and would be a bit too much for my liking during the day. I wore this lipstick when I was going out and it really just completed my outfit. Winter can be so boring compared to summer in terms of makeup looks and I think a bright red lip is a great way to liven things up.

Tomato Mask by Say Yes To
This was by far my favourite product of the season. This mask is incredible value for money and gave me incredible results. My skin often breaks out and I was looking for a mask to try and combat or calm this. This mask does exactly that. The next day after using this mask my skin is noticeably less spotty and more even toned. It doesn't have a scent which I like and it is packaged in a tub, making it very easy to use. I couldn't recommend this mask highly enough!

  8. I love reading reviews- they usually send me straight to the shop to buy the item! :'D Although they probably shouldn't... But I've been in desperate need for a good eyeliner recently, so I'm going to try out the one by Stila you talked about! Also, I couldn't live without Batiste dry shampoo... :)

  12. Great picks, the Yes to mask sounds really good, as does the Stila liner. I always find liquid eyeliners with the marker tip dry out really quickly but I may have to give this one a try as they are the easiest to apply - thanks for the recommendation

Love your blog by the way, I've followed you over on Bloglovin' :)
